Gerard Pique may be relieved, Spain will be well in the final of the new Davis Cup played at Madrid ! The Spanish, led by a huge Rafael Nadal still undefeated since 2004 in the race, have wiped out Great Britain at the end of the double decisive. Nadal, was accompanied by Feliciano Lopez, the favorite to Marcel Granollers (touching the back), and the pair prevailed 7-6, 7-6 in 2h16, at 00: 30 past, against the british specialists of the double that are Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski. Clearly not tired out by their games simple played a little earlier, Rafael Nadal and Feliciano Lopez won the first set 7-3 on a tie-break, at the end of a round where each team has not had a single ball break to defend (at 2-1 to the Spaniards and to 5-5 for the British). There has been no break in the second set, where there is, instead, were five white games and where Nadal and Lopez saved two break balls, one of which was a ball set. Spain has finally snatched its ticket to the final after a tie-break was intense, when she had to save three balls of the set, before imposing 10-8 on his second match ball. La Roja will attempt to win Sunday in front of his public, his sixth Bowl of Silver, with Canada against which it will of course favorite.
If you missed the two singles :
Undefeated for fifteen years in Davis Cup, Rafael Nadal has given Spain equally with Great Britain, by imposing 6-4, 6-0 in 1h25 against Dan Evans in the second singles in the semi-final in Madrid. As in the single confrontation between the two players, last August in Montreal, the British gave some trouble to the Spaniard in the first set. Most of the games were long, and Evans saved two break balls at 1-2, before finally giving up on the final game, allowing Nadal to win the first set. But the British had apparently given everything, because in the second round, he was completely foiled, and committed many errors which the n°1 in the world has taken advantage to the full. So although Nadal has managed to make the break at 1-0, 3-0 and 5-0, while down on his service games, to win 6-0. Thanks to this second set battle, the n°1 in the world has saved its forces for the double, he will certainly play alongside Feliciano Lopez. With in game, a place in the final of the Davis Cup !
Edmund had given the advantage to the British
The British, still without Andy Murray, who is deemed to be out of shape (he would have picked up 8kg in recent weeks), were leading 1-0 against Spain, the host country, following the victory 6-3, 7-6 in 1h22 Kyle Edmund against Feliciano Lopez. The player 38-year-old has had to replace at the last minute, Pablo Carreno Busta, wounded in the leg, which had replaced himself Roberto Bautista Agut, who left the team Thursday following the death of his father. Lopez has put a lot of time to get into the party, accepting a 3-0 defeat by not scoring a single point. The games were then marched on both sides, and Evans has bagged the first set in 27 minutes. The Spanish, more comfortable with time and success on-the-fly, her chosen field, has given a really hard time to his opponent, ranked lower than him (62eme against 69eme), with two balls set, at 5-4 in the second round. But Edmund saved them and everything is finally played in the tie-break, where there has been no suspense, the British, supported by several hundreds of supporters invited by the Federation, taking the lead 7-3.
