The facts: what happened yesterday on the occasion of the three days of beach volleyball in Piazza Castello of Milan, is detailed in this article, was simply unacceptable, more than that, unspeakable.
Perhaps, however, before it is better to remember that there are two fundamental rights, that of the chronicle, critical, sanctioned and governed by the Italian Constitution, and not from the shopping list of any character, bureaucrat or a politician, a sportsman and not.
The freedom of the press, or the right to inform, consists in the right to publish everything that is connected to all of the facts and events of public interest or occurring in public. The freedom of the press is included in the Italian constitution between the freedom of manifestation of thought.
The right of criticism, as on the other hand, the same right of reporting, is governed by Article 21 of the Italian Constitution, which reads: “Everyone has the right to express freely their own thought by word, in writing and by all other means of communication. The press may not be subjected to authorisation or censorship”.
The writer honors and has the responsibility and the burden of “growing up” journalist, in the respect of a Profession (with a capital P) that (im)poses a code of ethics among the most severe possible. And our colleague posted for Volleyball News, follow the event in Milan, no less. He was there to tell you, that you’ve read almost four million pages of this site, in just two years, and that you have the right to be informed and to our absolute respect.
It is unacceptable, therefore, that any person, whoever he may be, believes to be able to claim the right to treat something public, including a sports Federation or an event under the auspices of a national body and the Cones, as a “stuff” of their own. And it is unspeakable the fact that he is (and has been) allowed to do it.
We spoke of the facts: the former president of the lombardy regional committee of Italian Federation of Volleyball has literally ripped from the neck of a Journalist writing in the Register, which is regularly accredited by the same federation (Fipav) and, therefore, in possession of all the requirements needed to follow the event and previously approved by the same Federvolley to do so, the title of the entrance that allowed him to carry out his profession, taking pieces of the accreditation and the right and duty to inform you. Why? Because the Journalist (will have been the fault of his Head?) is a “person not welcome”…
Eh? And why would it be? And, then, “don’t like”… who?
It is not even important to ask in virtue of which charge the ex-president of the regional? The consultant of the Federation for the support related to aspects of communication and marketing, among other things, not yet made official? Or chief executive officer of the Centro Pavesi or even that of the alleged “executive director” of the event in Milan?) or motivation, the former number one of via De Lemene has felt entitled to intervene in this way, to greater reason, from the moment of its official role within the Federation is not yet well-defined, or if he did it for a “bother” the staff.
At this point it becomes relevant, however, what that same person could represent in the future of the sport that we love the most… and that doing so did nothing more than confirm one of those opinions that so much could have bothered (this).
But in any case it is very serious what he did, yes. This is the problem.
As is the continued silence of those around him.
And us Volleyball NEWS you don’t even need to remember that the same Journalist which has been stripped of the Pass I have already followed this same head Volleyball Nations League and the Super Finals of the Champions League, events whose credits pass the scrutiny of the FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) and the CEV (Confédération Européenne de Volleyball) and certify to the highest level the criteria of professionalism which we respond in our activities.
Sure, we could also report what you can read in the Law no. 69 of 1963, precisely in Article 2, which begins with “it is the right irrepressible journalists, the freedom of information and criticism”, but we don’t want to do it, because it will be the locations most suitable to express the facts.
After all, Italy is not exactly among the top of the ranking, 2018 on the freedom of the press. Given that, perhaps, it is good to keep in mind, despite the fact that there are people who obviously think it is civil and normal to be in the 46th place in the ranking mentioned…
No, we want to continue to exercise our freedom of the press and criticism, which, then, is a duty and a fundamental right of all of us.
So, we leave you with a poem, whose first verse reads: “First of all they came to get the gypsies, and I was glad, did not speak (…)”. Here, the invitation is to put these few words in any search engine and read the conclusion: it will be for what you can find that, with the due proportions, it goes over the defense of the right of criticism. In addition, the freedom of the press. Here, we talk about rights. Those of all. And that’s it.
And it is a subject on which we have no intention of being quiet.
The reflection that we can contact you to do some reflection on what surrounds us and who represents us: the volleyball and its people are best of this.
Us, we are convinced.
