The Press Office Mass
Bitterness and disappointment.
Are the two feelings that today tell better the state of mind of the President Italo Vullo.
Over eighteen years of struggle to keep alive and grow a reality as the Volleyball Mass.
Eighteen years of sacrifices for officials, fans and sponsors, however, against everything and everyone, they have continued to grow in the company. All of this and then today see themselves accused by the press of non-existent desire to monopolize the spaces of the new palazzetto of the city.
“To be honest, I did not understand the release on the newspaper of the Municipal Administration – says Italo Vullo – We do sports and not politics. My interview of the past few days showed exactly the unfolding of events, without offending or attacking anyone.
No one has asked to monopolize the use of the building. All have the right to use it, and on this there it rains.
However, I would like it to be clear to everyone that in our case we are talking about a Series A2 that has special needs, and inevitable.
Professional players of high level need for training of a building suitable to the category, with a sprung floor to preserve the joints and back.
Also in the sport of volleyball it is important to always train in the same palazzetto to find points of reference and only with regular trainings and scheduled you can get results.
In addition to this, having to necessarily play on a flooring specification it is normal that you should have the time to lay it to guarantee a workout pre-race to the opposing team.
Therefore, it is not a matter of “PalaVullo” but I need indisputable for the national category in volleyball.
Just read or have an interest to do so. We do not want to engulf the new plant and the evidence is that we have not asked for us to train or play for the youth”.
What have you asked of the Administration?
“We have asked to be able to train the building and do so with a timing and a frequency that is appropriate to a professional team.
Three mornings a week for two hours in the afternoon for two hours from Tuesday to Friday.
To this we add, but only to a limited extent to the eleven home games of the season, the possibility of assembling the field for the Series A2 the Saturday evening, at the end of the last event, sports program, and the availability of the building on Sundays for training on the finishing touches of the opposing team and the match at 18.00.
In short, the minimum wage for a team that played the second national tournament of the third Italian sport for number of members.”.
Which contacts you have had with the Administration?
“I tried the Mayor on the 6th of may last, to begin speaking with him for the next season. I have called at least 4 times as well as its secretariat and that of the chief of cabinet in the next ten days without receiving an appointment or a phone call.
In the days after the Mayor has met with a senior executive of the youth sector, and has given him the availability to meet me for the 15 hours of the next day.
Appointment to which, with so little advance, working, and having already commitments planned, and I have not been able to respond positively. Among other things, as reported by the Administration in relation to the meeting with our manager is not exact. We are, in fact, we never mentioned that we had already decided to cede the title to another company
We said that if we had not had a positive response in a short time, that would have been a possibility. We are looking for, and we tried to go back to high-level volleyball to the ground, this is and has always been our top priority”.
Montecatini, Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Carrara, La Spezia and finally Livorno. Since 2006, the Volleyball Mass has found hospitality in several places waiting for a day to go home. And now that the palace is ready this seems to be more difficult than before.
“It is a situation that can not amareggiarci of course. What’s most annoying however is the fact that we try to manipulate our demands, to seek agreement by passing the message that we can protect all the reality of sports with no preferences.
I repeat, we have not asked for anything more than the minimum that a team of Series A2 is to ensure for itself and for the opponents. Before speaking you should know the material. Neither the Mayor nor the Councillor, instead, have never come to see a race, the first team or the youth that he was, nor have ever given answers to our requests.
My interview was not intended to cause or to make controversy and, instead, the other part is wanted to grasp the opportunity to use it. We asked only attention and cooperation, and that we have received in return is an exit on the newspapers in which he speaks of the “PalaVullo”, gigantism etc
I repeat, we asked for a space that represents the minimum wage that a city and a Municipal Administration must ensure to have the ambition to be represented in any national championship in the highest level”.
